Site and Facility Information

Ice House Museum

The main floor of the Ice House Museum is wheelchair accessible with an interior ramp and wide aisles through the exhibition space. This floor includes displays that tell the stories of the ice house and the ice harvesting industry. It also includes a theater with a 20-minute introductory film. Volunteers are available to share the history of the Cedar River that is shown on the half-story balcony. There are currently no restroom facilities in the Ice House Museum. The Historical Society is in the process of installing accessible, modern restrooms on the main floor.

Little Red Schoolhouse

The Little Red Schoolhouse is wheelchair accessible via a wooden ramp at the rear entrance of the building. Visitors may access the ramp from a gravel parking lot in the rear of the building or from a concrete sidewalk around the west side of the building. The museum consists of a single-story classroom. Accessible restrooms are available in an exterior building just west of the schoolhouse via the concrete sidewalk.

Victorian Home & Carriage House Museum

The entrance to the Victorian Home & Carriage House Museum facility is wheelchair accessible via a wide ramp. The first floor of the historic Victorian Home has doorways of 32” or greater. Written materials and volunteers and staff are available to provide descriptions and interpretive information about the second story bedrooms and servants quarters.

The Carriage House addition has 36” doorways, wheelchair accessible restrooms, and an elevator to access the lower level train layout and upper level archives.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have about accessibility or to request additional accommodations.
